Meethi loved Veer passionately but felt shackled in the role of his wife. Will they overcome the obstacles to find happiness in marriage?

Well sometimes those happy-wala-ending books can mean a lot! And in the month of January, I finally read those Harlequin books which I won in a blog giveaway! Tanu Jain's His Runaway Royal Bride is among them. Please don't compare these books with that of heavy literary romantic novels, instead these type of books are very easy to read and can easily drag you in to the emotional torrent quite swiftly! In short, easy to contemplate with the troubles of the hero and the heroine.

Tanu Jain's book is nothing less than a fairytale. From the very beginning of the book we see the male protagonist, Veer, a tall-dark-handsome king running after his "dead" runaway bride, Meethi, who is full of spunk and vigor. Well to be honest, Meethi staged her death to run away from the title which would have bring upon tons of huge responsibilities. But here's the catch, Meethi actually loved Veer, and Veer, the poor lion has fallen for his sweet lamb with a dark past. Read the book to capture the full drama of this captivating romance!

The author Tanu Jain knows how to spin a spicy romantic story with a taste of passion! The chemistry between the king and the queen might heat you up with passion and pleasure. Jain's expressive and evocative prose demands her readers to stay hooked to the tale till it's very end, since the author have added a dash of mystery which is thrilling and moreover, she has unfolded it in a quite interesting way. Her narration is catchy layered with enough passion and mystery!

The characters are pretty nice, but I felt that they lacked their depth. The sketching was good, but at times, I couldn't relate with their demeanor or couldn't contemplate why they behaved in a certain way.

Verdict: If you enjoy a no-fuss love-story which will instantly pull you into it's emotional edge, then definitely grab a copy of this book.

Tanu Jain gives us another dark hero - a prince no less - Veer is composed of layer after layer of conflict. The cover does full justice to the story and is one of the reasons I picked up the book. I wasn't sorry! Read it!

When this book came up for review I simply couldn't resist it thanks to the beautiful cover. I know it's a rookie mistake to judge a book by its cover, but these days I think that adage shouldn't be taken too literally. Of course, the summary also played an integral part in attracting me. A royal love story! Why not!?!

The storyline begins with Maharaj "rescuing" his wife who faked her death. What follows is essentially the account of two people madly in love with each other finding their lost love. Though the story initially begins with Veer trying to avenge his bruised ego when he finds out Meethi has faked her own death while he spent days mourning her death.

The part of the story where Veer narrates how he simply obeyed Meethi's father's orders left me teary eyed. The whole roller coaster journey of finding love has been well written.

There is not a better feeling than being understood by a person whom you love. The writer brought out that emotion very well. The fact that men need that little push to understand how exactly a woman feels is has been used as the central theme.

My knowledge of this genre – romance is very limited owing to a fact that I spent my entire teenage hating mushy romance and happily skipping all Mills & Boons until I turned 23! I am thankful for not having skipped them completely for I wouldn't have discovered such a beautiful.
The characterization deserves a special mention. Initially I expected Meethi to be an immature character and Veer to be this utterly irrational Maharaja throwing royal tantrum. After all, they do have a huge age difference. Meethi fumbles with the whole "Royal Behavior" while Veer has impeccable manners which obviously lead me to arrive at that conclusion. I don't particularly tolerate such characters (Errr….be it in real life or in books)

The writer bowled a googly. Both the characters turned out to be the exact opposite of my conculsion. In fact Veer's character had layer upon layer of conflict which slowly was peeled out only to reveal a perfect gentleman beneath. The whole process of "peeling out layers" has been well conceived and implemented by the writer. But then I am not sure if the writer intended to actually do it that way.

The writing was simple and delivered all emotions probably intended by the writer.

My only complaint would be the story line was a bit predictable. As the story line progressed I was able to anticipate a happy ending in the making. But then! What's a "Royal" love story sans a happy ending? The story did have its share of drama and clichés but thankfully they weren't overdone.

VERDICT: A Sensible read.

RATING: 4 on 5

I fell in love with the book even before I read it because of it's extremely beautiful cover. The cover tells you a lot about the story and suits the book very well. The book is full of passion and romance and lots of raw emotions. I think Tanu Jain is the only Indian M&B author who does not shy away from describing the passionate love making and I must say she does that beautifully. It is a very sweet book and every time the royal family taunts Meethi, your heart goes out to her. How does one judge a Mills & Boon romance? Do we go ahead with reviewing the plot, characterisation, language and other facets as usual, or do we ignore some parts of it considering it is meant for pulp consumption?

I haven't read many M&B. I think this is just my second. But yes, I've read a few romances that fall into this category. I haven't enjoyed any of them much, because they are NOT my cup of tea. I can only read so much about damsels in distress or even not in distress and knights in shining (or not) armour. There is only so much tough-guy-delicate-girl that I can consume without insulting my sensibilities.

I received His Runaway Royal Bride by Tanu Jain as part of a giveaway. I read it only because of the moral obligation I felt towards the author for having sent me signed copy. Reading about the conservative royalty in a modern set-up was regressive to say the least. I am from a royal family personally, so I know that the world now longer works on the basis of titles and family heritage!

There are hardly a handful of royal families in India that still attract the "ji huzoors" and "Maharani saheba" deference. However, to be fair, despite the titles, the family dynamics were quite similar to any average middle class Indian joint family – the rumour-mongering, jealousy, conservativeness, spite.

I thought it was twisted and perverted the way the lead characters – Meethi and Veer – are supposed to feel wildly attracted to the other when on the same page a few words above they had been seething in anger, fear or distrust. I skipped over most of the description of the sexual attraction and action between Meethi and Veer – the descriptions were clichéd, and added nothing to the story. There was way too much stress on the beauty and handsomeness of the characters and every little thing seemed to lead to sexual action. Even going clothes-shopping could not be spared the throbbing members and explosions of lust! Loins, throbbing member, melting in the arms, tight erection, strong hands, sweet spot, thrusting, feeling of vulnerability… nah, not how I'd like to understand the characters' passion for each other. Where do we draw the line between erotica/pornographic literature and a Mills & Boon?

The plot, however, was pacy and this was a quick read overall. But much of the elements of the book felt clichéd to me. In short, I did not enjoy reading this. But for the teenagers who like to fantasise, this could be a feel-gooder.

Meethi loved Veer passionately but felt shacked in the role of his wife .When Veer Demands her return she must obey but being back by his side is heaven and hell .Because ,despite their new -found happiness ,secrets from the past still linger .And Meethi know that they will threaten to destroy everything........

My views :

Tanu Jain books are worth reading over and over as she has described the places very well especially 'Bavdi Mahal' in such a way that makes you fall in love with those places .The Author has portrayed the situation very well and designed the characters with lot of ease

Tanu Jain has described the emotion of characters with a lot eloquence . I like Veer and Meethi characters because they are unique in their own way .She is full of life whereas he is brooding man .

The Author has described Veer 's changing emotions towards Meethi in a wonderful manner .She has also described the behaviour of other supporting character in an authentic way like Maaji Saheb sneering looks and the harsh condemning words which she uses on Meethi .The bedroom scenes are bit explicit and some will find it hard to accept it

Tanu Jain uses some Philosophical theories of life in between their romances . I liked it because its very difficult to use these theories in an romance novel but she has done this job with ease .The story is quiet simple, the dialogues are very well written and the pace of story is 'OK '
I give four and half star to this book .Highly recommended to all .
This book is total entertainer as you won't be able to keep the book down until you finish it

When Veer's wife Meethi disappeared three years ago he was devastated. But now he's found her and he won't stop till he gets his revenge from her for breaking his heart. Veer was a typical cold Mills and Boon hero. He had his ego and pride and the one time he decided to trust his heart it got trampled upon. I liked Veer after we find out his back story. It really makes you understand his behavior.

Then we have Meethi. Meethi never wanted to marry Veer at such a young age but she was charmed by Veer himself. She couldn't help but fall for him. I really liked Meethi. You'd think that because Veer and Meethi share a nine year age difference Meethi would be immature and spoiled. But that was so not the case. Meethi has had to face hardships of her own and there were very good reasons behind her wanting to get away from Veer.

Veer and Meethi's love story goes in the present but we do get flashbacks from the past when they first met. I think that really helped in understanding their situation. Veer and Meethi both clearly love each other but they have a hard time expressing it. They both also had a ton of individual issues to work through. But they finally do find their way to each other through all the misunderstandings.

His Runaway Royal Bride is filled with angst and drama. But there are happy times as well. It was a bit cliched but I didn't mind. I was happy to see Veer and Meethi finally get what they deserve. His Runaway Royal Bride was a good read.

His Runaway Royal Bride is the first book that I have read from the Indian Author Collection of Mills & Boon. I had some apprehensions before reading this book regarding the language and the editing part. And these doubts just flew out of the window, as I started reading the book.

This is a story of a 19 year old girl who gets married to Maharaj Vidyamann Veer Singh of Samogpur. Meethi is a simple commoner who is not able to meet the expected royal code of conduct. She falters and fumbles and is often ridiculed by the royal family. Though she is in love with Veer but the royal life and its protocol suffocates her. So, she decides to end it all by running away from the palace by faking her death.

After three years, Veer tracks her down and brings her back, much against her wishes. Will he be able to really get her back after all these years? Will he be able to know the reason behind her fake death? Will he be able to win her back again? His Runaway Royal Bride answers all this in a riveting and an engaging story which takes the readers on an emotional roller coaster along with high voltage family drama. The story also has romance with a lot of heat, raw emotions and unbridled passion.

The author has captured Meethi's emotional upheaval very well and Veer despite being very egoistic and too proud of his family's name and honour is a true M&B hero. The language is simple and narrative is crisp and engaging. What I also liked about this book is it's classy and elegant cover design which is so apt for the story.

Go for His Runaway Royal Bride. Definitely an enjoyable read!
